Doha, 23 June, 2016. Aspire Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding “MOU” with Qatar Anti-Doping Commission (QADC) which will promote the awareness to the Academy and community towards Doping. The MoU setting out the principles and agreement for collaboration between the two organizations was signed by Aspire Academy, Deputy Director General, Ali Salem Afifa and Chairman of Qatar Anti-Doping Commission Dr. Nasser Ali Al Ansari. The objective to coordinate action to support and ensure the successful implementation of Qatar Anti-Doping Commission programs and activities and to enhance and educate Aspire Academy and wider community on awareness of Anti-Doping in curricula, scientific researches and practices.
The signing ceremony was attended by QADC Qatar Anti-Doping Commission board members and several officials from Aspire Academy, including: Aspire Academy Director of Education and Students’ Care, Badr Jassim Al Hay, School Principal,Jassem Al Jaber , Professor Tim Cable, Director of Sports Science; Markus Egger, Director of Strategy and Ali Sultan Fahkroo Director of Cooperate Services. The agreement is another example of Aspire Academy’s commitment to be up to-date with the current and latest information in world sporting standards and trends in this case the latest coming from WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency). All this helps in nurturing generations of student-athletes in different sports that Qatar can compete in on regional and international levels, including at the Olympics.
Commenting on the agreement, Ali Salem Afifa, Deputy Director General of Aspire Academy said: “Aspire Academy student athletes will be able educated on correct and recommended methods of dealing with any medication they might be taking. To learn and apply correct methods of handling medicines for athletes at a young age will serve our athletes well in future”. “I am pleased that we are collaborating with Aspire Academy on a fundamental part of our athletes’ livelihood today. Our collaboration will give us the opportunity to reach the community too and raise awareness of the relevant issue related to the topic of Doping in sport. Working together QADC and Aspire Academy will strive to raise graduating sport champions in a healthy environment that recognized by wellness education.” Said Dr. Nasser Ali Al Ansari, Chairman of Qatar Anti-Doping Commission.
Under the agreement, both parties work to eliminate doping in sport by developing and implement anti-doping projects shared between Qatar Anti-Doping Commission (QADC) and Aspire Academy in the areas of: Sports and Football, Education and Student care, Sport Science, Scientific research, Policy improvement and Professional development.
