ACADEMY STUDENT-ATHLETES AND GRADUATES MAKE IMPACT FOR QATAR AT WEST ASIAN TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Aspire Academy student-athletes and graduates made a significant contribution to Qatar's medal haul at the West Asian Table Tennis Championships in Amman, Jordan.

The team won a total of 20 medals, with Aspire players playing their part in winning 10 of them, including three of the four gold medals won by Qatar.

The tournament featured men’s and women’s teams from Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Palestine, Oman, Iraq, Bahrain and the UAE.

As well as the seniors, there were singles, doubles and team events for age categories from under-11 through to under-19.

Among those winning multiple medals was Ahmed Korani, who graduated in June, as he claimed gold in both the under-19 Boys’ Doubles and Team competitions.

Current student Yousif Abdalla, who is set to join Grade 12 in September, also won gold as part of the under-19 Team.

Ahmed Korani added a bronze medal to his collection after losing in the semi-finals in the Boys’ Under-19 Singles.

Graduate brothers Mohammed and Abdullah Abdulwahab also won gold when they teamed up in the Men’s Doubles.

Mubarak Al Qutaiti (Joining Grade 7)

  • Bronze - Boys’ U13 Team

The senior players on the team will now begin preparing for the 2026 Asian Games, which will run from 19 September 19 to 4 October in Nagoya, Japan.
