Poland, 20 June 2016. Aspire Academy graduate and hammer thrower Ashraf El-Seify claimed silver with a throw of 77.43m at the Janusz Kuzocinski Memorial meeting in Szczecin, Poland over the weekend of 18-19 June. The Rio Olympic Games bound athlete was competing against a strong field and only Polish man, Pawel Faidek finished ahead of El-Seify with a winning throw of 80.10m
Ashraf El-Seify ‘s athletic star has been rising to the fore since he set a new world junior record of (85,57m with 6kg hammer) in Barcelona, Spain back in July 2012 as an Aspire Academy student athlete at the time. In the process, he became the first athlete in the history of the World Junior Athletics Championships to successfully defend his title. He also took Gold at the Asian Junior Championships 2012 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
El-Seify along with fellow Aspire Academy graduates, Mutaz Birshim and 19-year-old Abubaker Haydar Abdalla have qualified for Rio 2016 where they will fly the Qatari flag high during the Olympic Games.
