Doha, 17 November 2016. The Belarus National Olympic Committee 1st Vice President, Maksim Ryzhenkov and charge d’Affaires of Belarus Embassy in Qatar, Mr Vitaly Mirutko visited Aspire Academy on Thursday morning. The former basketball player was accompanied on a tour of Aspire by Aspire Logistics Director General, Mr Abdulla Nasser Al-Naemi and Aspire Academy Deputy Director General, Mr Ali Salem Afifa.
Mr Maksim Ryzhenkov had audience with Aspire Academy Director General, Mr Ivan Bravo and the two discussed areas of mutual cooperation in sport development for sports codes they have in common as well as coach development.
“What you have here at Aspire is a great example for every country in the world that wants to develop youth sport. The philosophy, concept of sport and education development and the work being carried out at Aspire is impressive. Belarus would like to explore areas of mutual co-operation with Aspire and the 6 regional sports academies that we have in our country for amongst others sports, athletics and fencing. Qatar and Belarus enjoy very good relationships and our President and HH Emir of Qatar get on very well. We want to explore how we could extend this relationship to sport and this visit to Aspire has given us ideas, hope and belief it can be done. ” Said Mr Ryzhenkov after receiving Aspire commemorative token from Mr. Mr Abdulla Nasser Al-Naemi, Aspire Logistics Director General.
