BUDAPEST CANDIDATE CITY OLYMPIC GAMES 2024 BID TEAM INSPIRED BY ASPIRE AND QATAR

Doha, 16 November 2016. A high ranking delegation from Budapest Candidate City Olympic Games 2024 bid team led by their Vice- Chairman, Ambassador Gusztav Bienerth accompanied by Hungarian Olympian and gold medalist in Modern Pentathlon at the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games, Attila Mizser, Budapest deputy Mayor Dr Balazs Szeneczey and Manager International Relations, Eszter Ratkai visited Aspire Academy on Wednesday morning.

The delegation learnt about the educational and sports training programs the Academy provides for its students in support of Qatar’s future athletes during their tour of the premises and facilities. The visitors took time in turn to share and present a brief synopsis of their bid to host Olympic Games 2024 to a team of senior management from Aspire.

 In acknowledging the work  in sports development and reputation that Aspire Academy has in the sporting world, Vice –Chairman of the Budapest Candidate City Olympic Games 2024, Ambassador Gusztav Bienerth said, “Hungary is proposing to the IOC and the world of sport that it is time to employ a different look at the hosting of these games. Through our bid, Budapest Candidate City for OLYMPIC GAMES 2024 we are saying it is time for mid-size cities to be given a chance to host the greatest multi- sport event on the globe, Olympic Games and we identify and agree with the selection of Qatar as the host for FIFA 2022 World Cup and Aspire epitomizes what the passion in the country. We came to Aspire Academy because we wanted to share our concept of Agenda 2020 and also wanted to learn how Aspire Academy is adding value to world sport development. Aspire is not yours it is for the world.”

Budapest Candidate City Olympic Games 2024 – Director of Sport and Venues- Attila Mizser then added his remarks saying, “The challenge our bid is throwing to the International Olympic Committee is to consider if they want hosting of Olympic Games to be monopolized by mega cities. Here is an option we are putting on the table , laden with sustainable solutions, legacy projects and encouragement to a whole new order of small to mid-size cities who will be capable and able to consider bidding to host Olympic Games.”

Budapest deputy Mayor Dr Balazs Szeneczey drew similarities between his city and Doha saying, “Both are beautiful cities with infrastructure, culture and capabilities to host international events and the world of sport needs to be consider them as venues for major competitions.”
