ASPIRE FOOTBALL DREAMS-GRADUATE ONYEKURU OUT TO IMPRESS IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

20 Sep 2018

Istanbul, 20 September 2018. Aspire Football Dreams-graduate Henry Onyekuru made his debut for Turkish club, Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, 18 September, against Lokomotiv Moscow. The Everton FC loanee has played in Champions League before with Anderlecht of Belgium during the 2017-18 campaign.

UEFA have named Onyekuru among players to look out for in this season’s Champions League. Onyekuru graduated from Aspire Football Dreams and went on to play for Aspire Zone Foundation owned Belgian club, KAS Eupen from who English Premier League side, Everton bought him before loaning him to Anderlecht.

Onyekuru has scored twice so far for his Turkish club in the local league just after three matches played. Onyekuru finished top joint scorer in the Belgian top League two seasons ago, looks to have rediscovered his knack for scoring after returning from injury that cost him a place at 2018 Russia World Cup.

Being left out of the Nigeria World Cup squad because of injury may have come as a body blow to Onyekuru, but the extra rest may have been the tonic needed to reinvigorate the 21-year-old as he readies himself to make an impact in Europe and Turkish league.
