Doha, 17 September 2018. Qatar's U-19 football team kicked off the "Four Nations Tournament" with an impressive 4-1 win over Vietnam in a match played on Sunday night at Aspire Academy. The Qatar junior side, made up of Aspire Academy Graduates struck three times in the first half, courtesy of goals from, Khaled Mansour, Mohamed Al Bayati and Youssef Falahat.
Qatar continued the onslaught in the second half with Yusuf Yusuf adding the fourth and visitors Vietnam who also qualified for 2018 AFC U-19 Asian Cup got a consolation goal from their captain Von Toi Dang.
The other two teams in Qatar to play in the "Four Nations Tournament" also met last night in a match played simultaneously. Uruguay emerged victorious by 2-1 score line over Cote D’Ivoire.
Next, Qatar takes on Uruguay on Wednesday, September 19, before rounding off with a match against Ivory Coast on Saturday, September 22.
The tournament is part of Qatar junior team’s preparation for the 2018 AFC U-19 Asian Cup to be played in Indonesia from October 18 to November 4, where Qatar will face hosts Indonesia, Chinese Taipei and the UAE in group A.
After the "Four Nations Tournament" in Doha, Qatar takes on Iran on the 2nd of October and then face Jordan on the 5th of October, before facing Malaysia in their last friendly match on 8th October. After the match in Malaysia, on the same day, the Qatar squad will head to Indonesia to start their final preparation camp before the AFC championship.
Qatar won the same event in October 2014 and qualified for the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup held in New Zealand.
The young Qatar side has played several friendly matches during the past months including games against Morocco, Russia, Uruguay, Valencia, England, Mexico and China. Qatar also featured in Toulon Friendly Tournament in France in May and C.O.T.I.F tournament in Spain in July.
