14 Jun 2017

Doha, 13 June, 2017. Aspire Academy adds another milestone to its illustrious history with the tenth (10) graduation ceremony set to take place on Wednesday 14Th June 2017 at the academy . Thirty-eight (38) student athletes will be capped at a ceremony to mark the end of the 2016-17 academic year.

The 2017 graduation ceremony will be held in the Aspire Dome in the presence of dignitaries, members of the Academy’s senior management and the parents of the student-athletes. The Guest of Honor at this year’s graduation ceremony will be Dr. Hassan Rashid Al-Derham, President of Qatar University. This tenth graduation ceremony not only marks the culmination of six years’ worth of hard work, effort and commitment from the student-athletes but caps a decade of excellence from Aspire Academy as it continues to churn out well- rounded citizens for Qatar.

Speaking ahead of the graduation day, Aspire Academy Director, Ivan Bravo encouraged the graduates to continue working hard and uphold the teaching imparted to them while at Aspire Academy, “Moments of transition like this, hang suspended between past and future. They are comforting, because they make you realize what you have accomplished over the past few years. But they are also bittersweet, because something must end in order for change to take hold. In every ending is the challenge of a new beginning. And it’s is important to stress at the outset that your accomplishments as Aspire graduates are the result of your own merits. But we also need to appreciate that behind each and every one of your stories there are numerous accounts of teachers, coaches, family and friends. People who have stood by you, supported you along the way.

It is a day to celebrate the value of teamwork as a catalyst for inspiration and success.” The student athletes graduating this year in the following sports, football, gymnastics, athletics, refereeing, table tennis, and fencing will form the next generation of Qatar’s sports teams and clubs. They will join some of Qatar’s top and fast rising sportsmen and former scholars who graduated from Aspire Academy such as the likes of Mutaz Essa Barshim, Ashraf El-Seify, Abdulla Al-Tamimi, Ibrahim Majid, Abdelkarim Hassan, Akram Afif and Abubaker Hydar Abdalla who have excelled and are competing at the very top of their respective sports.

The tenth graduation marks yet another achievement for Aspire Academy an institution well on its way in full filling its mission to be recognized the world’s leading sports academy in the development of young athletes by 2020.
