Sandweiler, 11 April 2016. Six players of Aspire Academy’s squash programme competed in this year’s ‘Luxembourg Junior Open’ from April 8-10. One of them managed to take home a trophy.
Aspire Academy graduate Umair Zaman continued his good form in European competitions this season with winning the under 19 event. After some testing matches early on, Umair saved his best performance for the final beating England’s Isaac Rawcliffe three games to one in a well contested match enjoyed by a full gallery of spectators.
In other age categories, Waleed Zaman and Yousef Elsaka both achieved top 4 finishes in the under 15 and under 13 events respectively. In the semi-finals Waleed was narrowly beaten in five games by the third seed Pieter De Loos (Netherlands), whilst Yousef was defeated by the Dutch Knut Hogervorst, the second seeded player in his age category.
Placings for each player are listed below whilst full results can be found at: http://wsf.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/tournament.aspx?id=D35DD5D0-AD67-4C04-A620-1551BB53CC43
