Aspire Academy student-athlete Seif Hemeida and part-time athlete Oumar Doudai both won their second gold medals for Qatar in less than two weeks.
Mahamat Abakar and Mubarak Al-Noubi also won individual medals at the Arab Under-20 Athletics Championships in Ismailia, Egypt, which took place from 8 to 11 May.
Sief Hemeida won the pole vault, and Oumar Doudai won the 110-metre hurdles in Egypt, adding to the Asian under-20 titles they won at the end of April.
Seif Hemieda, who is coached by Qatar Athletics Federation’s (QAF) Pawel Szczyrba, cleared 5.20m to finish ahead of Tamer Ashraf of Egypt, whose best effort was 5.10m
Oumar Doudai improved on the bronze that he won in Tunisia in 2022 as he took the gold in a time of 13.64 seconds with another Aspire Academy student-athlete, Mubarak Al-Noubi, winning bronze with a new personal best of 14.30s.
Aspire’s Mahamat Abakar won silver in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.86s, just behind Iraq’s Abbas Oudah Nimr (52.44s)
Mahamat Abakar claimed his second silver of the championships as he teamed up with fellow Aspire student-athlete Ibrahim Haydar Abdalla in the 4x400m relay.
Maizen Abdalmgeued A Ali and Youssef Abdelaziz Djibrine completed the team. The success at the championships highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the QAF and Aspire Academy.
Qatar’s other medals were won by Djibrine Ahmat, who won gold in both the shot put and the discus, while there was a silver for Hatim Aitoulghazi in the 800 metres.
