Doha, 21 March 2019. Qatar will host Group A of the AFC U-23 Championship 2020 Qualifiers from March 22-26, 2019 at Aspire Academy football fields. The four-team-qualifiers will feature the hosts along with Oman, Nepal and Afghanistan. Qatar will be looking to qualify for their third appearance in the AFC U23 Championship Finals in Thailand in 2020.
44 countries from across Asia have entered the AFC U23 Championship 2020 Qualifiers, and they were drawn into 11 groups with the 11 group winners and four best second-placed teams qualifying for the finals to be joined by hosts Thailand.
The twenty-fix (26) strong squad to represent Qatar which was announced by Qatar Football Association boasts twenty-five (25) Aspire Graduates and affiliates. “The players of Qatar’s U23 team are well-prepared and highly motivated to give their best and use the home advantage to qualify for the final tournament in Thailand in 2020 and we hope that many fans find the time to come and support us at our games,” said Qatar U23 National Team coach Albert Fernandez Caballeria.
The qualifiers start on Friday 22nd March, with Oman taking on Nepal at 1700hrs before Qatar plays Afghanistan at 1900hrs on Aspire Academy Pitch 5.
