Aspire Academy student-athlete Ahmed Korani, who turned 16 in March, has won the men’s singles title at the Qatar National Table Tennis Championships.

Korani, who is a grade 10  academy student-athlete representing Qatar Sports Club, beat 2023 Aspire graduate Abdullah Abdulwahab from the Al Sadd Club 3-2 in the final.

On the way to the final Korani beat two other Academy graduates namely German Shemet (2010) of Al Arabi and Al Rayyan’s Fahd Mughanni (2014).

Last week 16-year-old Korani was part of the Qatar team that earned a place at the Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships.

Aspire Academy’s table tennis Head Coach Peter Karlsson was full of praise for the youngster and his achievement.

“Ahmed is a very hard-working player, so as a coach, it's very nice to see that it's paying off with impressive wins like this,” Karlsson said.

“Every group needs role models and leaders with the right mindset and work ethic; Ahmed is one of them.

“I strongly believe that this is just the beginning of a very successful journey for him.”
