Aspire Academy student-athletes have earned Qatar a place at the Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships.

The trio of Ahmed Korani, Rawad AlNasser, and Yousif Abdulla won both their matches at the West Asia Regional Youth Qualification event in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq.

Part-time Aspire athlete Sultan Al-Kuwari joined them as Qatar narrowly beat their hosts, Iraq, 3-2 and then enjoyed a decisive 3-0 win over neighbours Saudi Arabia at the tournament.

The victory means that Qatar will be able to enter players in the team event as well as the singles and doubles events at the Asian Youth Championships.

The championships, which are for under-19 players, will be held in the Chinese city of Chongqing between 30 June and 6 July.

Rawad AlNasser and Sultan Al-Kuwari both then participated in the West Asia Regional Olympic Qualification tournament, which will also took place in Sulaymaniyah.

After winning one of his group games, Rawad AlNasser progressed to the round of 16, where he lost to Iraq's Hameed Anwer. Sultan Al-Kuwari lost both his games in the group stages, including one match against Hameed Anwer.

The overall winner will qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
