ASPIRE ACADEMY UNDER-17 FOOTBALLERS ENJOY WINS OVER GERMAN CLUBS IN TURKEY WINTER CAMP

Aspire Academy’s under-17 squad return to Doha after a successful nine-day training camp in Turkey, which included training matches against their counterparts from German clubs Red Bull Leipzig and Viktoria Berlin.

A total of 30 student-athletes travelled to Antalaya for the camp with the majority of them hoping to make the squad for Qatar at the upcoming AFC Under-17 Asian Cup. The tournament is scheduled to be held in Thailand in May with the Asian Football Confederation set to confirm the dates and venue at their congress in Bahrain on 1 February. The four semi-finalists from the championship will also qualify to represent Asia at the 2023 Under-17 World Cup in Peru in November and December.

Aspire Academy concluded their trip on Tuesday 31 January having beaten Viktoria Berlin 3-1 on Monday thanks to two goals from Bassam Eid and one from Esmail Al-Ahrak.

Eid had also been on target in Aspire Academy’s 5-2 win over RB Leipzig on Saturday along with Ahmed Nasir, Awab Fadil, Nasser Babiker and Ali Al-Qahtani.
