Cairo, 7 August 2018. Qatar Table Tennis team finished the 26th Arab Championship that took place in Cairo, Egypt from July 30 to August 6 with a commendable four medals. Qatar team comprising of Aspire Academy graduates and current student athletes claimed the first medal, a bronze when the U-12, Cadet Table Tennis team of Qatar won the bronze medal after a 3-2 victory over Iraq in the third and fourth place match.
Qatar U-21 Team featuring Aspire Academy graduates Mohamed Abdulwahab, Abdulrahman Al Naggar and current student-athlete Abdulaziz Al Hajaji then won the silver medal after losing 3-1 to Egypt in the final match of the team competition.
The championship in Cairo featured 13 Arab nations including Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Yemen, Palestine, Sudan, Iraq, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Lebanon hosts Egypt. Besides the senior teams, around 386 players were competing in U21, U18, U15 and U-12 age-categories.
Abdulrahman Al Naggar added a bronze in the U-21 singles category before he and team-mate Mohamed Abdulwahab, won silver in the final of U-21 doubles match, having lost to hosts Egypt.
