Doha, 12 January 2016. The training camps of big clubs like FC Bayern Munich attract a lot of fans to Doha. This year, the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy hosted an online contest to find four “Super Fans” to invite to Doha, along with a chance to visit Bayern’s training camp at Aspire Academy.
During their stay in Doha, the four fans from India, China and Germany also had an opportunity to take a tour of Aspire Academy. They were impressed by the Academy, and indeed everything else they saw during their time in Qatar.
“Doha is an absolutely amazing place. We’ve had the chance to see a presentation about the future World Cup stadiums, and we’ve had the opportunity to learn more about the culture of the country. There is a lot being built right now – like the metro – and I think the World Cup in 2022 will be a fantastic competition”, said 51-year old superfan Michael Zeman.
Zeman has been a fan of FC Bayern Munich ever since his childhood: “Every season I have seen between 50 and 55 of their games, so I guess that adds up to over 1,000 games I have seen so far.”
The passionate football fan also has his fingers tightly crossed that the club will do well this season: “If there are no injuries, I think it will be possible for them to win three titles – the Championship, the Cup and the UEFA Champions League.”
