WELL PREPARED FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON

11 Jan 2016

Doha, 11 January 2016. At the end of their training camp at Aspire Academy in January 2016, KAS Eupen’s Director General Christoph Henkel reflected positively on the time spent in Doha.

“Everything was perfect. Being here offers us the best environment to fully concentrate on the football, and everyone at the Academy was very helpful,” said Henkel, whose team is currently ranked 4th in the second Belgian division, four points behind Royal Antwerp FC at the top of the division. “We will do everything to give ourselves a good start to the second half of the season, and give everything we can to reach our target and to reach the first league.”

During Eupen’s stay in Doha, they also had the chance to play a friendly against Qatar’s U-23 national team which featured a couple of players from the Belgian club. “It was a good game. The Qatari team really impressed me, and hopefully they will start the U-23 Asian Championships with a win against China”, Henkel commented on the 0-1 defeat of his team against Qatar’s Olympic team.

Henkel said he was happy with the performances of the Qatari players in Eupen. “They took a great step forward in every way this season, so we’re very happy with them. I’m glad that I’ll have the chance to be here on Tuesday to support Akram and the other players, when Qatar’s U-23 play their opening game against China.”
