Doha, 12 February 2015. After defeating Schalke 04 and Real Madrid in the group stage the winning streak of last year’s champion, Aspire International, came to a sudden end in its quarter-final match on Wednesday evening. Paris Saint-Germain put up a strong showing against the multinational team and goals from Ikone (14’, 57,), Bernede (51’) and Kanga (64’) secured them a solid 4-0 win.
Whilst PSG is still in the title race for the 'Al Kass International Cup' 2015, it’s time for Aspire International players to prepare their goodbyes. However, before the players from fourteen different countries, who played together as a team for the first time ever at this tournament, leave Doha they have one more chance to showcase their talent – in the placement game against River Plate on Thursday at 6.00PM. “We have to congratulate Paris Saint-Germain for their good performance. Their players were physically, technically and tactically very good and you could see that they had been playing together for years. We did not start that badly but after the first goal from PSG we lost our organization. Despite the score line we created three or four very good chances to score. Overall, PSG were the better team and the game was a good lesson for us,” said coach Joao Pereira after the game.
