KEVIN KEEGAN HANDS TROPHIES TO PARTICIPANTS OF ‘ASPIRE ACADEMY LEAGUE’ FINALS

In 2014 Aspire Academy launched the ‘Aspire Academy League 2014-15’ for football clubs in Qatar and their players of the generations 2003 (U-12) and 2004 (U-11) to provide them with competitive playing opportunities and to enable these young talents to showcase their potential. Importantly, the ‘Aspire Academy League 2014-15’ has the support and involvement of all 18 QFA clubs. The competition started in September 2014 with the best 6 teams of each age group qualifying for the final tournament that took place on National Sports Day, February 10.  In each generation the 6 clubs played in a preliminary stage in groups of 3 with the teams that finish on top of their group qualifying for the final. Al Sadd triumphed in the U-12 competition whilst Al Wakrah emerged victorious in the U-11 age group.  None other than English football legend Kevin Keegan, two-times winner of theBallon d'Or and former manager of the English national team, was on hand for the finals and presented the trophies to theparticipatingteams.
