30 Aug 2015

Eupen, 30 August 2015. From this season, Aspire Academy's players at KAS Eupen will be playing side-by-side with a true football champion: Former FC Barcelona forward Jeffrén Issac Suárez Bermúdez, who has signed a 3-year-contract with the Belgian club.

The 27-year-old “Jeffren” played for FC Barcelona (2004 - 2011), Sporting (2012 - 2014) and Real Valladolid before joining Eupen. During that time, Jeffren won the UEFA Champions League 2011, the FIFA Club World Cup 2009, 3x Spanish Liga and Copa del Rey titles with Barcelona as well as being part of Spain's U19 and U21 European Champions. This week he will represent  his native country Venezuela for the first time.

“It’s an extraordinary success for our club to sign such an experienced and strong player, who is at the peak of his football career. He had offers from clubs all over the world and we are happy that the club and our concept convinced him to join us. We are certain that his class and personality will give our team another push and that our young players will be able to benefit a lot from his experience”, said Eupen’s General Manager Christoph Henkel.
