Doha, 5 March 2017. On Sunday, Aspire Academy has unveiled details about its upcoming ‘Aspire for Education’ regional conference, in a press conference held with media representatives. Held under the theme ‘Our values, Our pride’, the third edition of the conference will be held on the 13-14th of March in the Ladies Club in Aspire Zone. The press conference was attended by senior officials from Aspire Academy, comprising Mr. Ali Salem Afifa, Deputy Director General, Mr. Badr Al Hay, Director of Education and Student Care and Mr. Salah Al-Yafi, Leadership Training Officer.
Ali Salem Afifa welcomed media representatives and said about the third Aspire for Education conference: ”We extended the invitation to several local and regional experts from different fields to discuss key issues in the ‘Aspire for Education’ conference, that focuses on integrating values in the academic curriculum. As you know, Aspire Academy, with its various departments, always seeks to improve its current curriculum and performance especially since we place great emphasis in values and its importance in shaping personalities. We wish to see yet another successful year and we hope to benefit attendees from the knowledge that will be shared in the conference in line with our mission to produce well-rounded individuals’ who will become Qatar’s future leaders.”
“When we launched the first and second editions of the Aspire for Education, we sought to improve the educational experience in Qatar. The first conference in 2013 was held under the theme academic and career guidance, whereas the second was held under the theme ‘academic support’. This year’s theme was selected because integrating values within the academic curriculum is something new to Qatar and we’d like to discuss it in this year’s event. We have more than five years of experience through our various leadership programmes, which complements the academic and sporting aspects of our student-athletes”, said Badr Jassim Al-Hay, Director of Education and Student Care. He further said that Aspire Academy has successfully cultivated enough experience to be shared with others so students, parents, and other educators can benefit from them and know how to integrate these values in the learning process.
During the conference, Salah Al-Yafei, Leadership Training Officer, also introduced Aspire Academy’s new leadership curriculum: “Decision-makers in the field of education need such programmes through which they can share the personalities of the youth who will be one day responsible in building this country.”
“As such, Aspire Academy wanted to find a curriculum that adopts values into the education process. This new leadership curriculum that Aspire Academy adopts was compiled using the knowledge offered from over 56 renowned books about the topic. Some of the authors have been invited to speak in this year’s conference, to share their expertise and discuss their research topics with the attendees. Some of these authors include Mr. Saleh Al Duqla, Dr. Majed Al Jallad, Dr. Zuhair Al Muzaidi and others from Qatar University experts.”
The third ‘Aspire for Education’ conference will be spread across two days, the 13th and 14th March. The conference will comprise of lecture sessions, panel discussions and training courses delivered by a variety of renowned local and regional educators. Further, the conference will discuss themes related to students’ welfare and prosperity in school. These include topics such as the value promotion scheme, philosophy and definition of values, gauging values and evaluating their effect on student behaviour, how to apply these values to thoughts and actions, integrating value-based education in the curricula, and the use of media to promote values.
