Doha, 28 February 2017. On Tuesday, Aspire Academy organized a "Careers Fair" in the Aspire Dome for its senior students as well as other pre-university students from surrounding schools. Present at this Fair were Universities from Qatar and abroad as well as 18 scholarship providers from overseas drawn from different industries and public sector. Among these were, Aspire Zone Foundation, RAS Girtas, Gasal Qatar Petroleum, Qatar Airways, Ministry of Education, Qatar National Bank, HSBC, Financial Aid Office at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar University, Qatar Gas, Civil Aviation Authority, Ministry of Administrative Development, and Hamad Medical Corporation.
By holding The Careers Fair Aspire Academy has demonstrated a commitment to educate and keep its students abreast and informed about the nature of the professional opportunities available to them in Qatar. This reflects the Academy’s overarching goal of guiding and supporting its students in choosing a career path that is rewarding and fulfilling and also ideally suited to them after life at the Aspire Academy.
Aspire Academy’s Student Affairs Manager and one of the organisers of the Careers Fair Mr. Abdul Aziz Al-Jedaia said about the Fair, “ This is the second Careers Fair we have organised and its bigger and better than last year for sure. In total we have 150 students from 7 schools and we are pleased to provide them such a platform where they can find out about future study and work opportunities. It is part of our education goals here at Aspire Academy to cater for the student in as many aspects of their life and future career as possible. We go beyond nurturing and developing sporting talent and also seek to equip our students with the tools and resources that enable them to maximise their potential and help them build a successful careers. While Qatar has in the recent past be known as an excellent international sporting destination this Fair showcases another success story of Aspire Academy as an exceptional center of learning that provides advanced educational programs in a wide variety of different subjects. Aspire Academy seeks to give the students as many options as possible in succeeding both in their education and also their career long after they graduate,” said Mr. Abdul Aziz Al-Jedaia.
The students taking part expressed their delight with the event and the benefit it delivered in introducing them to the world of work. Aspire Academy Year 12 student Mohammed Abdulwahad attended the Fair and remarked, “This Fair offers a great opportunity to Aspire students and other students from all over Qatar to come here and discuss as well as listen to experts on what is available to us as we look to decide on options to take after graduation from secondary school. I am looking primarily for universities where l will be able to study and carry on playing my sport at a competitive level at the same time.”
The students also spoke of how understanding where their career interests might lie, and helping them to decide which subjects are necessary to prepare them for their preferred career path. They also valued the opportunity to meet representatives from participating institutions and organisations both to learn about the opportunities available to them, and the nature of the job market in Qatar.
