Metz, France;  Aspire Academy Table Tennis current student athletes representing Qatar national team at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Youth Contender in Metz, France, qualified for the last 32.

The trio of Sultan Al Kuwari, Ahmed Korani and Rawad Al Nasser competed in the U15 boys’ category of the tournament that was held from February 18 to 20.

“The tournament featured players from more than 50 countries, and it was a huge achievement for our boys who are in their 14,” said Aspire Academy Table-Tennis head coach, Peter Karlsson.

Al Kuwari won a game in his 11-7, 11-5, 6-11 and 11-5 defeat against Spain’s Hugo Urquizar.

The championship had U-11, U-13, U-15, U-17 and U-19 age categories.

“This is a positive result. I’m looking forward to cash in on this success.”

Karlsson, 52, is a former 1991 World Champion in men's doubles and 2000 European Champion in men’s singles.

The Swede appreciated the small steps the Qatari table tennis players have made in a tournament like WTT.

“Aspire Academy provides the best coaching experts to develop paddlers. Tournaments like WTT and regional championships have helped assess the progress of our players,” added Karlsson.
