The Leadership Development Programme (LDP) section, under The Education and Student Affairs Department at Aspire Academy, recently organized its first internal camp for selected Aspire student athletes’ leaders in full compliance with the health protocol due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Only student athletes who showed exceptional qualities of leadership took part in the camp, where their skills were honed by LDP specialists from Aspire Academy.
“The aim of such camp is to train the students in advanced decision-making skills and teamwork besides problem-solving technological games,” said Salah Al Yafei, Head of LDP.
The camp included multiple activities and lectures that were designed to develop student leaders and refine their skills.
“The LDP camps aim at developing leadership skills in Aspire Academy student-athletes besides it also takes off their training and studying pressure and engage them in something exciting. The students are trained in advanced decision-making skills, teamwork build-up and problem-solving technological games,” added Al Yafei.
The wards had the opportunity to learn about being positive role models, getting involved, making sound choices, becoming active team members and making a positive difference in their lives, schools and community during the camp.
LDP camps are organized on a regular basis to ensure that the majority of the students obtain leadership qualities that can help them face life’s challenges and develop them as future leaders.
“Such camp also promotes core values at Aspire, such as respect and internationalism besides raising a future generation of leaders in academics and sports, captains of industry and world changers,” said Al- Yafei.
Aspire Academy strongly believes that such leadership development camps must be integrated with education to develop the personalities of the students, who will be responsible in shaping the future of Qatar.
