Keeping in view of this year’s National Sport Day slogan Sports is Life, Aspire Academy organized several community-focused activities and events to celebrate the 11th National Sport Day at Aspire Park on Tuesday.
Along with the Aspire Academy, the Shura Council also hosted its activities at Aspire Park.
Shura Council Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanem and other top dignitaries from Aspire Zone and Aspire Academy also participated in the activities.
All activities were held in line with public health guidelines.
The NSD was started in 2012 to promote a healthy lifestyle and create awareness about fitness among the people in the country.
The events were organized to promote the country’s national sports strategy and inspire the community to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Aspire Academy activities included gym, volleyball, spinning, padel and others while members of the community also took park at the outdoor facilities.
Different activities and games for children, families and visitors were held at Pitch No.10 & 11 besides Aspire Park and Padel Court (near Al Aziziya Hotel).
On a chilly morning, children from all age-groups lapped up the opportunity to be a part of the annual NSD.
Six-year-old Mohammad Anas, who was accompanied by his parents, experienced his first-ever full-time NSD activities at the Aspire Park.
“I like to walk in the open air and enjoy the vast green spaces at the Aspire Park,” said Anas.
The philosophy which was envisioned by Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani a decade ago now runs deep in the Qatari society as sports participation has become a way of life for the citizens and residents.
Another visitor, Aayat, 14, has witnessed the NSD activities at Aspire Park since 2013.
“We generally come here on our weekends but Aspire Academy’s NSD activities at the Aspire Park are something special and innovative,” she said.
Sports have a benefit on health in general and Aspire Academy has actively participated in the past events to promote sports and educate people on ways to reduce health risks associated with an inactive lifestyle, such as coronary heart disease and diabetes.
