Aspire Academy co-hosts OCA training camp

31 Aug 2014

Doha, 31 August 2014. At the start of September, some of Asia’s most talented young athletes will be in Doha to participate in a two-week-long camp co-hosted by the Olympic Council of Asia and Aspire Academy. The delegation will include 59 athletes from 31 Asian countries, including China, Kuwait, Lebanon and Malaysia. Accompanied by their personal coaches, the athletes, aged 16 and 17, will be competing in the long jump or middle distance disciplines. All athletes were nominated by their respective national Olympic committees to participate. Between September 1 and 14, athletes will have the opportunity to use the exceptional facilities of Aspire Academy, and train at both the indoor and outdoor track during mornings and afternoons every day.   The athletes will also be supported by the coaches and sport scientists of Aspire Academy. During the camp, the sport science team will be collecting data and sharing this with the athletes and their personal coaches. This will be extremely helpful in training, both in Doha and upon return to the athletes’ home countries.   Commenting about the upcoming camp, Christopher Earle, Director of Sport at Aspire Academy, said, “We are delighted to co-host this training camp, and to be able to welcome such a huge number of promising young Asian athletes and their coaches to Aspire Academy. We are looking forward to these two weeks and hope that each one of the athletes will make the best of it and return home with many good memories.”     Long Jump Schedule:   Monday Sept. 1 Tuesday Sept. 2 Wednesday Sept. 3 Thursday Sept. 4 Friday Sept. 5 Saturday Sept. 6 AM TRAINING 8:30-10:00am               Warm Up   Station 1 Short Approach Jumps   Station 2 Sprinting   Station 3 General Strength Warm Up   Group 1 Full Approach check mark   Group 2 No Training (Rest) 10min Jog   Tempo 12x100m (GS)   Stretching Warm Up   Station 1 Short Approach Jumps   Station 2 General Strength Warm Up   Int.
