Doha, 14 June, 2016. Aspire Academy will celebrate the ninth graduation of the distinguished institution with thirty-six (36) student athletes being capped at a ceremony to mark the end of the 2015-16 academic year. The 2016 graduation ceremony will take place on Tuesday 14th June in the Aspire Dome in the presence of dignitaries, members of the Academy’s senior management and the parents of the student-athletes. The Guest of Honor at this year’s graduation ceremony will be His Excellency Mr Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser Al Ali, Minister of Culture and Sports.
The ceremony marks the culmination of six years’ worth of hard work, effort and commitment from the student-athletes during their time at Aspire Academy and highlights Aspire Academy’s continued efforts to help launch their sporting careers. Speaking ahead of the graduation day, Aspire Academy Director, Ivan Bravo encouraged the graduates to continue working hard and uphold the teaching imparted to them while at Aspire Academy, “The students' years at the Academy have allowed them not only to be better prepared for life, but also to witness how their Aspire friends, older and younger have blossomed as well. All of them together have achieved significant milestones and have strengthened the past and present of Aspire as an institution. We have learned from them as much as they have tried to teach us.”
The student athletes graduating this year in several sports, including football, squash, athletics, swimming, table tennis, and shooting, will form the next generation of Qatar’s sports teams and clubs. They will join some of Qatar’s top and fast rising sportsmen and former scholars who graduated from Aspire Academy such as the likes of Mutaz Essa Barshim, Ashraf El-Seify, Abdulla Al-Tamimi, Ibrahim Majid, Abdelkarim Hassan, Akram Afif and Abubaker Haydar Abdalla who have excelled and are competing at the very top of their respective sports.
The graduation marks yet another milestone for Aspire Academy an institution well on its way in full filling its mission to be recognized as one of the world’s leading sports academies in the development of young athletes, which it achieves through a comprehensive curriculum focused on both academic and athletic achievement.
