ROBERTO OLABE TO JOIN REAL SOCIEDAD IN SPAIN

13 Jun 2016

Doha, 13 June 2016. Roberto Olabe, Aspire´s Director of Football will depart the Academy on September 1st, 2016.  On that day Mr. Olabe will become the new Director of Football at Real Sociedad SAD, one of Spain´s historic clubs where he had held several roles in the past throughout his professional career as both player and manager.

Mr. Olabe has been a critical member of the Academy´s senior management team during the past 4 years.  His leadership within the football directorate, along with his commitment and dedication to the ambitious goals of the Academy, has played a major role in the growth and success of Aspire in Qatar and around the world over this period.

Director General Ivan Bravo said: "I would like to sincerely thank Roberto for his exceptional work in the past four years during which major milestones have been reached by Aspire.  It has been a joy to work with him.  He has represented the Academy and Qatar football with great professionalism and dignity throughout his time here.  I would have liked him to carry on with us into the distant future, but I understand his decision to pursue this new challenge in Spanish football.  Roberto is one of the world’s best in football development, so it is not a surprise that he is highly sought after.  He leaves us with a legacy of excellence in our approach to player development and towards our vision of producing teams and players capable of competing on the highest stage. I personally, and everyone at Aspire, wish him all the best in the future as he takes the helm at his home club."
