VISITS FROM POLISH AND CAMEROONIAN OFFICIALS STRENGTHEN ASPIRE ACADEMY’S INTERNATIONAL TIES

Aspire Academy recently hosted two diplomatic and sporting delegations, as it continued its efforts to foster international collaboration.

Poland’s Ambassador to Qatar, Tomasz Sadziński, met with the Academy’s Director General, Ivan Bravo, while a delegation from the Cameroon Olympic Committee toured the facilities and held discussions with the Director of Sports, Markus Egger.

Both visits helped strengthen ties not only between Aspire Academy and the two nations, but also between Qatar and Poland and Cameroon more broadly.

Following the meetings, both delegations were keen to hold future discussions to decide on more specific ways to collaborate.

Polish Ambassador Tomasz Sadziński was keen to build on the existing relationships between Poland and Aspire Academy.

He highlighted the recent educational Memorandum of Understanding between the Academy and the Polish football team Lech Poznan.

He also noted that former World and Olympic champion Anita Wlodarczyk has been doing her winter training at the Aspire Academy with Academy coach Ivica Jakeljic.

“Aspire Academy has incredible surroundings, amazing infrastructure, facilities, atmosphere and the people too,” the Ambassador said.

“We are always keen to learn more, and I can see a few areas we can learn from —of course, the facilities, but also how to best train the trainers.”

“We’re aiming to foster an exchange of experiences and ideas between sports training centres in Poland and Aspire, to explore what we can learn from each other, identify shared practices and differences, and consider ways we might collaborate in the future.”

“We had a great discussion with your Director General, and I look forward to following up soon.”

“I must also congratulate the Qatar National Team on qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, and I know that most of the players were developed at Aspire Academy.”

“This qualification is built on planning ahead and choosing amazing experts from all over the world to create a special mixture that ensures you can develop success in sports. It's not only football; it's other areas of sports as well, and we can learn a lot from this.”

The delegation from Cameroon was made up of Timba Majoré, Treasurer General of the Cameroon National Olympic and Sports Committee, Dr Mohamadou Bello, President of the Cameroon National Olympic Academy, Dr Tado Oumarou, Director General of the Cameroon National Olympic Academy and Dr Mohamadou Aminou, Deputy Director of the President’s Office and Technical Cooperation Officer.

The visitors toured Aspire Academy’s state-of-the-art facilities to find ideas to build on the existing Memorandum of Understanding between the Cameroon and Qatar National Olympic Committees.

“We are very, very impressed. We have a project similar to Aspire Academy, but ours is limited to football,” Timba Majore explained.

“We would like to expand this project to the main sports that we have in Cameroon. We have been working on that project for the last few years, and this visit is going to give us more ideas on how we can best implement the programme.”

“Some of the lessons we can apply in Cameroon focus on combining sport and education infrastructure. I want to come back in the future so we can explore more specific ideas for how we could collaborate.”

“We are very aware of just how important it is to ensure that young people have an education while they train to be a sportsperson, because you have to prepare for life after sport.”
