Doha, 8 April 2015. On Tuesday evening Aspire Academy welcomed parents of the student-athletes in grade 7, 8, 9 in the Academy to give them the opportunity to talk and exchange thoughts with teachers and coaches.
“We see our relationship with the parents as a partnership and it’s important to communicate with them on a regular basis,” Principal Jassem Al-Jaber advises in his summary of the importance of these events. “We want the parents to know what’s going on in the classrooms and what Aspire is all about. Meeting with them gives us the opportunity to talk with them about their sons and advise on what they can do at home in order to support them,” says Spanish Teacher Sonia Masip Tello.
“Parents play a big part in the child’s development and therefore it’s important for us to have a good relationship with them,” acknowledges Athletics Head Coach John Nuttall. “We don’t see them that much at trainings so it’s a good opportunity to connect, to celebrate the good things their kids are doing and, of course, it’s also good for them to know the people that are working with their children on a daily basis,” adds sport psychologist Matthew Cullen.
“It’s good to have the chance to follow what’s going on in school,” says the mother of 13-year-old gymnast Raslan Saoud. “We are very happy about the opportunities Aspire Academy offers our son and we know that he will have received a good education when he graduates from the Academy”, comments the father of grade 9 student-athlete Mohamed Abobaker Mezeldin. Also the father of high jumper Hassan Al Buainain adds: “Everything here is well organized, the level is high and the Academy also does an excellent job in motivating the boys and increasing the interest in sports in the region.”
