PADEL, FENCING AND ARCHERY MEDALS FOR ASPIRE ACADEMY STUDENT-ATHLETES

02 Nov 2026

Aspire Academy student-athletes Adham Eldeeb, Hassan Waly and Ahmed Al Sada ensured that October ended on a winning note, claiming medals at international fencing, padel and archery competitions respectively.

Grade 12 fencer Adham Eldeeb delivered two stellar performances in a week, winning at the Foil World Cup event for cadets in Hammamet, Tunisia, then taking silver at the Asian Under-23 Championships in Bahrain.

The event in Tunisia attracted fencers from around the globe, with Eldeeb winning the under-17 title.

After progressing from the group phase, he won six more matches to lift the title, including a hard-fought 15-14 win over Hong Kong’s Junlin Chen in the quarter-finals, before beating France’s Mahdi Friha Yahiaoui in the last four and then Russia’s Oleg Senotov in the final.

The 16-year-old followed that achievement with an impressive display against older fencers at the Asian Under-23 Championships, which featured 47 competitors from 12 nations.

Eldeeb’s run to the final included a quarter-final win over graduate Ismail Khalifa Abdalla, who finished seventh overall, while another graduate, Khaled Aref Hussein, was eighth.

In the final, he was edged out 15-14 by Hong Kong China’s Yin Kenji Tsun Lau to win a silver medal.

He also competed alongside Aspire Academy student-athlete Abdulrahman Poorgharib and graduates Khalef Aref Hussein and Abdalla Ismail Khalifa in the team event, where they won a joint bronze medal after losing by just 2 points to Kazakhstan in the semi-finals.

Next up, Eldeeb will represent Qatar at the 2026 Summer Youth Olympics in Dakar, Senegal.

On the padel court, Waly continued his excellent form, winning a sixth FIP Promises tour title so far in 2026 with a victory in the under-18s at the Venray tournament in the Netherlands.

He once again played alongside Spain’s Jose Domingo Martinez Garcia, with whom he won the FIP Promises Aspire Academy a week earlier.

The unseeded duo easily won their first two matches and then, in the quarter-finals, led the top seeds Leon David Ruiz Shannon and Daniel Beneyto Sanchez before the Spaniards were forced to retire.

Their toughest match came in the semi-finals when they edged past another Spanish duo, Hugo Mendez Gomez and Nicolas Aguirre Sanchez, the fourth seeds, 7-6, 7-5.

In the final, they beat Swedish 5th seeds Malte Lindh and Filip Dhalqvist in straight sets.

Waly is part of the Qatar team for the International Padel Federation World Cup 2026, being hosted in Doha.

There were also medals for Ahmed Al Sada, who joined grade 11 in September, at the 3rd West Asian Archery Championships in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates,

He won bronze in the individual event and a silver in the mixed team event.

The successes of the Aspire Academy student-athletes, while also representing Qatar, highlight the close collaboration between the Academy and local sports federations, including the Qatar Fencing Federation, the Qatar Padel Federation and the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association.
