Doha, 7 September 2016. Aspire Academy athlete students both current and graduates, combined to produce a haul of medals for Qatar at the 12th GCC Gymnastics Championships held at Al Khawla bint Al Azwar Indoor Hall.
Aspire Academy graduate and Qatar international Ahmed Al Dayani claimed six gold medals and a bronze as the Senior teams made up of all Aspire Graduates won 7 of the 8 gold medals on offer. The Junior team which is made up of current Aspire Academy student athletes won all 8 of the gold medals available
Al Dayani, one of the star performers, was confidence personified in all the six events. It was a one-man show as he romped home with incredible performances in all-around, floor, rings, pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar. Qatar’s silver winners were Mahmoud Al Saadi (rings, all-around and parallel bars), Malek Al Yahri (high bar and pommel horse) and Nasser Al Hamad (vault and floor).
- Ahmed Dayani: 7 Gold (1 Team - 1 All Around - 5 Individual apparatus).
- Ahmed Nabeel G11 (Jnr): 6 Gold (1 Jnr Team -1 All Around -4 Individual apparatus).
- Abdullah Mosfer G10 (Junior): 2 Gold (1 Junior Team - 2 Individual apparatus).
- Hussam Abdelaziz G10 (Junior): 2 Gold (1 Junior Team - 2 Individual apparatus).
- Raslan Saoud G10 (Junior): 1 Gold Junior Team 2 Silver Individual apparatus).
- Tameem Kreeb G8 (U 14): 3 Gold (1 All Around - 2 Individual apparatus).
