Thessaloniki, 23 October 2019. Aspire Academy student-athletes Abdalla Khalifa, Khaled Aref and Faisal Al Sowaidi represented Qatar at the recent U-17 Foil team competition at the Thessaloniki U17 European Circuit. This is the most important U17 circuit in the world for the U17 category.
Qatar Foil Team reached the quarters finals and managed to end the final competition ranked 5th from the 29 teams from all over the world took part in this competition. During the competition the Qatar team was able to beat traditional strong teams like Germany and Belgium.
Meanwhile in the individual event, Aspire student athlete Abdalla Khalifa finished in 16th place from 133 participants, a fantastic performance and credit to the work of Qatar Fencing Federation and Aspire Academy in producing fencers who rank among best in the world.
Qatar Epee U-14 team went on to compete in the official Swiss Youth international Circuit in Lucerne where Aspire student-athletes, Zaid Al Oulan got the Bronze Medal and Mohammed Al Hazaa reached the 5th position as both reached the final 8 of the U14 category. Qatar Fencing Federation and Aspire Academy are well pleased with the overall performance of the epee team during their latest European competition.
