Doha, Qatar:
A group of Aspire Academy student athletes are representing Qatar at Cadet and Junior Fencing World Championship in Dubai, UAE. The tournament will be held at the Hamdan Sports complex from April 2 to April 10.
The Qatari team will be represented by nine players, Mohammed Al Hazaa, Meshaal Al Qahtani and Mohammed Al Oulan, Jaber Al Fadaq, Abdullah Khalifa Al Sada, Khaled Aref Hussein, Lina Al Buainain, Sarah Diab and Haya Diab.
The fencers had an impressive outing last February at the Asian Fencing Juniors and Cadets Championship (Epee) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where they finished third.
The amazing part of this success story was the contribution of Aspire Academy, where the participating fencers Jaber Al Fadaaq, Mohammed Al Hazaa, Meshaal Al Qahtani and Mohammed Al Oulan learned the fencing basics.
Aspire Academy believes that fencing is one of the sports that Qatar can put a lot of focus on to develop the champions of the future.
The academy coaches, sports science team and sports departments have worked very closely with Qatar Fencing Federation (QFF) to put together an effective collaboration strategy that has helped to identify talent among young student athletes early on.
Qatari delegation will be represented by Secretary General Khalid Issa Al Hammadi and Assistant Secretary, Fahd Abdullah Al Mulla.
