Doha, 27 June 2021. The future of Qatar Table Tennis continues to look bright going by the excellent work and news coming from the U13 boys enrolled as student-athletes at Aspire Academy. Ahmed Korani, Sultan Al-Kuwari and Rawad Alnser have shot up into the world top 30 ranking for the Cadet age group in the latest June 2021 ranking publication. Ahmed is currently in 8th position, while Sultan ranks 15 and Rawad sits at number 27. Aspire Academy Table-Tennis athletes were recently on a training camp in Europe and participated in the Slovenia Junior and Youth Championships competition. Rawad Alnser who is 13, played doubles with Swedish player in the U-15 contest and the pair went all the way to the final before winning silver, quite an outstanding achievement.
The European training camp was part of the preparations for the forthcoming Arab Championships to be played in Amman, Jordan from 10-16 August 2021. In July, the boys will resume training and preparations at Aspire Academy with visiting players from Sweden and Iran. The Aspire Academy student-athletes will go to Jordan to represent Qatar Cadet table tennis team and other age group category. Aspire Academy Table Tennis head coach, Peter Karlsson summed up the Europe training camp as following, “I am pleased that we were able to put in a good workout during our camp and the boys performed remarkably well throughout this period. It was fantastic news when the latest World Cadet ranking for June 2021 came out with Ahmed Korani, Sultan Al-Kuwari and Rawad Alnser having climbed into the top 30, a really encouraging outlook to everyone associated with Table-Tennis in Qatar and at Aspire Academy, said Peter Karlsson.
