Aspire Academy student-athlete Rakan Mesfer Al Harith left for Cairo, Egypt, to represent Qatar at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup.
The tournament in Cairo starts tomorrow.
Rakan completed his preparations under the supervision of the Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF) coaches ahead of the competition in Egypt.
“Rakan attended the training camp conducted by the QGF ahead of the tournament. He is well prepared and we wish him luck,” said Abeer Al Buainain, QGF Secretary-General.
Rakan finished 30th in the men’s Pommel Horse at the qualifiers of 14th FIG Artistic World Cup Doha early this month at the Aspire Dome.
It was a creditable performance given the fact that the 16-year-old was up against some of the best on this apparatus.
Rakan, a Grade 12 student at the Aspire Academy, collected 10.833 points with a combined 7.033 in ‘Execution’ and 3.8 scores in ‘Difficulty’.
