ASPIRE ACADEMY PARTICIPATE IN AKHLAQUNA DAY CELEBRATIONS AT QATAR NATIONAL LIBRARY

21 May 2023

A group of Aspire Academy student-athletes were chosen to participate in Akhlaquna Day 2023 as they interacted with young pupils from a number of schools.

The event at the Qatar National Library on Thursday 18 May was organised by Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Akhlaquna initiative. It recognises those who exemplify good moral character and strong values, and who develop projects that benefit their communities.

The gathering on Thursday followed a ceremony on Wednesday where Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of QF honoured the 2023 winners of the Akhlaquna Award and the Akhlaquna Junior Award.

“I was delighted to meet the winners of this year’s Akhlaquna Awards,” Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser said.

“It was great to learn more about their projects and I am sure they will continue to embody the values of Akhlaquna. Congratulations to all.”

Aspire Academy, through its Leadership Development Programme (LDP), was proud to be invited to the Akhlaquna exhibition.

Mr. Salah Al-Yafii, Aspire Academy’s LDP coordinator, explained that Akhlaquna’s mission reflects the academy’s goal of inspiring Qatar’s next generation of leaders.

“This award is about developing values and morals,” he explained.

“Aspire Academy is one of the leading institutions in sports and education and as part of that education their development in terms of values and morals is very important.”

“Our participation in this exhibition was positive in terms of highlighting the importance of these issues.”

“It highlights how we, at Aspire Academy, in addition to sports and education, work on building leadership qualities with morals that reflect our culture and legacies.”

The Aspire Academy student-athletes interacted with a number of young students from schools around Qatar as they showed them how to use virtual reality headsets and challenged others to solve the popular Rubik’s cube puzzle among other things.

“This program helped us develop our life skills such as how to do business and helped us learn things that will our lives easier,” said fencer Muhammad Abdulali.

“We came here to apply what we've learned in the LDP class: developing leadership skills.”

His fellow student-athlete and fender, Youssef Ehab, echoed those sentiments.

“We have learned how to be cooperative and how to share things with the young people who helped us,” he explained.

“Of course, we learned all these things at Aspire and we came here to apply them at the exhibition. We learned sharing and teamwork.”
