ASPIRE ACADEMY OBTAINS PRESTIGIOUS CIS ACCREDITATION

Doha, 6 April 2016. Aspire Academy is now an official Council of International Schools (CIS) accredited educational institution. The ceremony to recognise the award of the prestigious award was on Wednesday, April 6 at the Academy in the presence of Mr. Tariq Al Naama, Vice President, Aspire Zone Foundation; Mr. Mohammad Khalifa Al-Suwaidi, Acting CEO of Aspire Zone Foundation; Mr. Abdulla Al Naimi, Director General of Aspire Logistics; Ivan Bravo, Director General of Aspire Academy; Dr. Ahmed Al-Emadi, Chairman, Advisory Council, Aspire Academy; and a number of heads of departments, teachers, staff, students and families.

The award follows a five-year application process and is the latest in a number of accreditations obtained by the Academy. The Director General of Aspire Academy, Ivan Bravo paid homage to teachers and staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure this achievement. He went on to say, “Aspire becomes one of only seven educational institutions in Qatar to be awarded a CIS accreditation and I would like to thank all our staff, teachers, and students who have been part of this five-year journey to get this recognition.”

CIS School Support & Evaluation Officer, Christine Bayliss, IS presented the accreditation certificate to Ivan Bravo, Director General of Aspire Academy, Jassim Al-Jabir, School Principal and Badr Al-Hay, Director of Education and Student Care. Christine Bayliss, called on Aspire to regard the CIS accreditation not as the end of a journey but the beginning of upholding and ever improving the very high standards the Academy has set for itself. “Aspire has done an excellent job in developing the quality of education available and focusing on meeting the needs of its student-athletes. Students now have the opportunity to pursue further studies at some of the top Universities around the world that recognise CIS accreditation should they wish to.”

School Principal, Jassim Al-Jabir applauded the work that has gone into attaining this accreditation saying, “This accreditation confirms the quality and excellence of all that we provide at the Academy, in terms of our curriculum, our policies, departments, our focus on student care, dormitories and facilities, as well as academic support and guidance. It is clear that we are operating at the very highest international standards.”

The Council of International Schools (CIS) is a global non-profit, non-national, non-regionally affiliated organisation that is committed to promoting high quality international education around the world. It includes more than 660 schools and 475 colleges and universities representing 110 countries, with more than 425 of those having received accreditation.

The Council sets a number of international criteria relating to academic and educational standards and which assess curricula, teaching processes, facilities, health and safety, and a wide variety of other processes that focus on student care.
