Doha 15 October 2019. Aspire Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) to effectively develop bilateral cooperation for the advancement of sports science and to ensure the improvement of mass sports and high-performance sports in both countries. The agreement was signed by Aspire Academy Director General Ivan Bravo and Mr. Kee Heung Lee President of Korean Sports & Olympic Committee President and an IOC Member in front of senior management from Aspire and a high-level delegation from Korean Sport & Olympic Committee.
The MOU aims to have the two parties cooperate on providing mutual support for training and education of high performance and youth athletes, make training facilities available for exchange and performance improvement and exchange sports medicine and sports science related research and share details after consultation.
Speaking after the signing, KSOC President, Kee Heung Lee started by thanking Aspire for the kind welcome he and his delegation had been accorded, “I have heard a lot about Aspire Academy from Korea Swimming Federation President and upon visiting Aspire l have found an outstanding and impressive place where sport and education are thriving as young people are being developed. I think there are lots of things that KSOC can assist Aspire Academy with in areas like education and sport science. We believe we can explore opportunities of holding and running training camps and other exchanges between our athletes involving Jincheon National Training Center, in Korea. It is one of the largest National Sports Training Centers in the world and covers more than 37 Olympics sports. We look forward to useful collaboration with Aspire Academy.”
Ivan Bravo, Director General of Aspire Academy, thanked the Korean delegation for taking time to visit Aspire Academy in his welcome remarks, “I am humbled that it is the President of The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee in person who has joined us to sign the MOU. Korea is among the top successful sporting nations and we value and treasure cooperation and exchanges of sporting programs, knowledge, training education and science with Korea. We are in a phase of fine-tuning the sports codes we run at Aspire and our sports will benefit from working with KSOC. Korea is an ideal place to take some of our athletes for training camps and preparation for major competitions like Olympics and Asian championships”, said Mr Ivan Bravo.
