Rio, 17 August 2016. Ashraf El –Seify has become the second Aspire Academy graduate to make it into the final of an event competition at Rio 2016 Olympics. The double Junior World Champion is through to the final of Rio 2016 Olympic Hammer throw final thanks to a 73.47m throw in Group A of the qualifying round. Ashraf, 21 entered the field as the youngest competitor but held his own among seasoned throwers to qualify as one of the top 12 finalists.
Ashraf who is competing in his first Olympics will return to the field to contest for a medal in the final on Saturday 20, August which starts 3.05am Qatar time. By reaching the final the Aspire Academy graduate becomes the second graduate to make the final after the great exploits of Mutaz Essa Barshim who claimed a silver medal in the high jump final.
Ashraf takes into the final his superb form that saw him finish in second place at the Szczecin IAAF Hammer Challenge in Poland and notch another brilliant second at the Hungary IAAF Hammer Challenge during this season.
