15 Oct 2015

Doha, 15 October 2015. On October 18, 2015, Aspire Academy will inaugurate the second Annual Youth Athletics Coaching Congress in cooperation with the Qatar Athletic Federation (QAF) and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The event, which will run for three days between October 18 and October 20 at Aspire Zone, brings together a large panel of internationally recognised coaches and sport science specialists to discuss the future development of the athletics industry.

Throughout the duration of the event, international and sport scientists from all over the world will deliver technical scientific information to coaches from within the Academy and across Qatar, aiming to help them in their efforts to develop well-educated sports champions. Topics that will be covered during the event include sprinting, hurdling, endurance, jumping and throwing, which will be discussed through several technical and practical breakout sessions, as well as delivering  sessions on gym and nutrition, training theories and training planning.

Ivan Bravo, Director General of Aspire Academy: “We are delighted to welcome this event to the Aspire Academy for a second year running, following the successful first edition in 2014. Sharing industry expertise and experience is an ideal method to help develop and enrich the knowledge of our coaches, which will in turn reflect positively on our students. We are excited to provide this unique platform again, allowing international and local experts to exchange knowledge and opinions on the development of the global athletics industry. Aspire Academy’s vision is to be recognised as the world’s leading sports academy in the development of young athletes, and such events cater to this.”

The presenters and speakers confirmed for the 2015 congress boast a wealth of experience and expertise gained from working with world champions with the likes of Loren Seagrave, an athletics coach renowned for his work with countless Olympic and World Champions; Jama Aden, a world class middle-distance coach who was named the IAAF coach of the year in 2008; and Ekkart Arbeit, widely regarded as one of the world’s greatest throws coaches having developed many Olympians during his various coaching stints; all taking to the stage over the three days.
