ABUBAKER MABROUK!

07 May 2016

Doha, 7 May 2016. By winning the 800m event at the 2016 Doha Diamond League on Friday evening, Aspire Academy graduate Abubaker Haydar Abdalla qualified for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

His winning time of 1.45.28 was the 7th fastest time over 800m this year and it was not the last reason for the 19-year-old Abubaker to celebrate that night, since he also made a bronze medal with Qatar's 4x400m relay team alongside Abderrahman Samba, Musaeb Balla and Abdalleleh Haroun.

Congratulations to Abubaker, QAF coach Jama Aden and his team and we are proud that Abukaber is already the third Aspire Academy graduate representing Qatar in Rio besides high jumper Mutaz Essa Barshim and hammer thrower Ashraf Amgad Elseify.
