Doha, 6 September 2015. The first day of the new school year also marked a special date for Aspire Academy's Athletics Program: With today’s induction meeting the close partnership with the Qatar Athletics Federation (QAF) officially started. By working together as a team and sharing facilities and knowledge, Qatar’s athletes will have better a chance to succeed in the future.
“One of the main reasons for this cooperation was the fact that the youth standards in Asia are constantly improving and the processes in place were not adequate to meet these standards. Leading up to the 2019 IAAF World Championships in Doha, we now have the opportunity to build up a strong team that will have the chance to be successful at this event and further. Our students have had good results and produced global medals and titles, but there is still room for improvement. We are convinced that if we work together and focus on our strengths the athletes will benefit most from it”, said John Nuttall, Athletics Head Coach at Aspire Academy.
Prof. Tim Cable, Director of Sport Science added: “It’s an exciting day for us and QAF. Together we are trying to produce athletes that can represent Qatar on a global stage and together we are using world-class staff, facilities and state-of-the-art technology to ensure the correct development of the young athletes.” A development that is aiming for constant improvement as Salah Al Den Shabooh, QAF U-18 Head Coach confirms: “By combining expertise and sharing knowledge we will become one team that works towards a strong athletics culture in Qatar.”
