QATAR MOTORSPORTS ACADEMY LAUNCHED

28 Oct 2018

Doha, 28 October 2018. During the annual World Superbike Championship visit to Qatar with the action taking place at night under the floodlights of Losail International Circuit from October 25 to 27, the “Qatar Motorsports Academy” (QMA) was officially launched.

Markus Egger, Aspire Academy’s Director of Sport and Strategy was part of the launch press conference on October 26, alongside Khalid Al Remaihi, Vice President and General Manager Losail Circuit Sports Club (LCSC) and José Luis Cardoso, former MotoGP and WorldSBK rider and Head of Motorcycling at QMA.

The aim of the Qatar Motorsports Academy is to create a platform for younger talents in the age bracket of 8 to 16 year olds and mold them into future MotoGP riders. “We want to give talented youngsters from Qatar and the neighboring countries the chance to enjoy the sport in a controlled environment and to develop in the right way under the supervision of experienced coaches and with the support of our partner Aspire Academy,” said Khalid Al Remaihi.

“Together with our partners, QMMF and LCSC, we aim to develop boys and girls for bike racing. Aspire Academy’s focus will be adding expertise in areas we know best such as mental skills, physical skills, strength and conditioning or sport science. We will provide the young riders the best support to be able to become fit and fast,” said Markus Egger, Director of Sport and Strategy at Aspire Academy.

“In this kind of sport, it’s important to have a good bike, a good team, infrastructure and a little bit of talent. The launch of the Qatar Motorsports Academy combines all of these things and we are optimistic that in the near future some of our young riders are going to be able to compete successfully on international level,” said José Luis Cardoso.
