“Improvement is an ongoing process”

15 Dec 2014

Doha, 15 December 2014. In 2013 Aspire Academy became a member of CIS, the Council of International Schools and, to demonstrate its commitment to high quality education, the Academy has set its sights on attaining the globally esteemed CIS School Accreditation. In course of this process the Academy was visited by CIS Regional Accreditation Officer Nicholas Bowley, who met and talked with school representatives, teachers, students and graduates. For Bowley it was the second visit after last year, which had already impressed him. “The quality of the facilities is excellent. However, what is more important is the quality of the people inside the facilities and I am interested in getting to know teachers, school leaders and students.” The reason why schools from all over the world are trying to get the prestigious CIS accreditation is simple. “First of all it’s a guarantee of quality provided by an objective external assessment. And second, improvement is most important for us and that is an ongoing process. We keep visiting schools and give them recommendations, so they can become better and better.” As far as the development of Aspire Academy is concerned, he has a positive opinion on the progress. “The process for the Academy to attain the CIS accreditation is going to take two years and we are halfway through.  But with this accreditation also comes responsibility, because the schools have to keep trying to improve. On the other hand it will also expand the network of the schools and they will be able to learn from each other.”
