Doha, 4 December 2016. Polish hammer thrower Anita Wlodarczyk is holding a three week training camp in Qatar at Aspire Academy this month. The current World record holder and 2012 and 2016 Olympic hammer throw champion said she counts Aspire Academy one of her favourite training and competition venues in the world. “I first came to Aspire in 2008 and was with my friend and fellow Polish hammer thrower the late Kamila Skolimowska. Ever since this place holds special memories for me and in consultation our longtime friend and Aspire Academy Ivica Jakeljic (Senior Throws Coach) we decided this was the best place to holding my training camp in preparation for the forthcoming Athletics season. I am working with Aspire Academy student athletes during my camp and it’s something l have done before in previous training camp we held jointly with Aspire and l enjoy this arrangement and gives me opportunity to share some of my experience and accumulate wisdom with the student athletes,” said the 31 year old champion and the first woman in history to throw the hammer over 80 m
Wlodarczyk won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Rio, setting a new world record with a throw of 82.29 metres and bettered that with a throw of 82.98 metres, setting a new world record just two weeks after the Olympics at the EAA 7th Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Warsaw.
