Doha, 30 June 2015. To help student-athletes embrace Aspire Academy’s values, Matthew Cullen (Sports Science) along with the support of Lee Christopher and Lubos Benko (Sports Department) developed a unique 'Student-Athlete Guest Speaker Series' program, that gave students in the 2014-15 season Sport program the opportunity to meet, question and challenge international sporting greats and experts.
The ‘Student-Athlete Guest Speaker Series’ provided a platform by which international athletes shared their journey through their sport whilst offering advice to our young athletes. As a result, common themes became evident which helped provide good tips for our young athletes on the pathway to success on an international stage,” said Athletics Head Coach John Nuttall.
“The program has been a fantastic addition to the Athletics Development group programming this year. The variety and quality of guest speakers has provided unparalleled experience and learning opportunities for our student-athletes as well as assisting coaches in the overall outcome of developing well-rounded young athletes,” Athletics Multi Events Coach Lee Christopher reflected on the past year.
“We want to develop next year’s programme around the theme of ‘’Champions in the Sports World’’. We will continue to provide opportunities for our student-athletes to engage with high level sports performers with the addition of introducing them to high performing individuals working in different areas within sport from marketing, media, sport science, to coaching and management,” said Matthew Cullen.
We want to thank all of the speakers that offered to share their experience and knowledge and also those who helped to facilitate these unique experiences for our boys over the past year. A big thank you goes to: Liz McColgan-Nuttall, Tarek Al Saleh, Sara Abdulrahman Al-Dossari, Elana Meyer, Brendan Venter, James Dasaolu, Felix Sanchez, Mutaz Essa Barshim, Marco Cardinale, Ramil Ganiev, Lee Chrisopher, Lubos Benko, John Nuttall, Scott Saunders, Abubaker Hayder, Christian Taylor and Raphael Holzdeppe.
