Doha, 28 March 2017. A delegation from Canada Soccer Association, toured Aspire Academy on Tuesday 28 March morning. The guided tour took place during Canada Men’s National U23 team participation in the three nation international tournament along with Uzbekistan and hosts Qatar. The delegation comprising of team staff was led by Canada Men’s National team assistant coach, Michael Findlay.
Speaking after the tour, assistant coach, Findlay said, “Aspire Academy boasts state of the art infrastructure and is really a world class sport academy whose work in nurturing and developing sport talent (in this instance soccer) has been growing in reputation world over. We are privileged to get a chance to come here and see this place. The 3 Nation tournament affords me and our head coach Octavio Zambrano, to have a look at these players with a view to develop and transition them on their path to the Men's National Team. I know that this is the same for Qatar with this U23 side which is also made up of Aspire Academy graduates and will probably form the backbone of the 2022 squad to represent Qatar.
Canada beat Uzbekistan 1-0 in the tournament’s second match and take on Qatar on Tuesday 28th March night and looking ahead to the encounter, assistant coach Findlay said, “The results from earlier matches against Uzbekistan sets up a tough game in prospect as hosts Qatar will be out to play well and hard against us, so we need to be ready, so I expect a tight contest," said Findlay
