Doha, 25 January 2017. Aspire Academy welcomed the Director of Foreign Affairs in the Brazilian Football Association and Member of the Brazilian Parliament, Mr Vicente Candido on Tuesday 24th January. During a guided tour, he had the opportunity to find out about the Academy and its philosophy.
“I am really impressed and I find this place fantastic. It’s the dream of every country to have something like this”, Candido said walking through Aspire Dome. He believes, hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup is going to have many positive effects on Qatar. “The country is going to share its culture with other nations, which will lead to a better understanding of each other, and small countries doing big things can be a true inspiration for others.”
Last November a plane carrying Brazilian football team Chapecoense crashed in Columbia with loss of many lives and decimation of almost the entire squad. There was an outpouring of grief and expression of sympathy from the world of football to Associação Chapecoense de Futebol.
Mr Vicente Candido also used his visit to the Academy to meet the youth team of Associação Chapecoense de Futebol, that was invited to play some friendly games against teams competing in the 2017 Al Kass International Cup that is currently underway at Aspire Academy, and he wished them good luck for their upcoming games.
“We are very grateful that the young Chapecoense players were invited to Doha and get the possibility to play in these games and we want you to know that Qatar will always have a special place in Brazil”, said Mr Vicente Candido.
