ASPIRE GRADUATE ELSEIFY CLAIMS HAMMER GOLD AT ASIAN GAMES

Jakarta, 26 August 2018. Qatari athlete and Aspire Academy graduate, Ashraf Elseify won gold in the Men’s Hammer throw at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta. The 23-year-old Aspire graduate won the contest with a throw of 76.88 metres ahead of Tajikistan’s Dilshod Nazarov whose throw of 74.16 metres secured him silver, while Uzbeki athlete Sukhrob Khodjaev who threw a seasons’ best of 74.06 to take bronze.
Elseify’s gold medal brought Qatar’s haul so far to two golds, one silver and a bronze at the ongoing 18th Asian Games in Indonesia. Elseify was delighted, to win gold and said after his victory, “Thank God, l can’t describe how happy l am. I was able to get this achievement only after hard work and persistence. My brother, Ahmed was also competing with me, it felt special and l am happy for what he also achieved here.
